You can register to vote in Georgia if:
 

To register to vote in Georgia, you must:

• You are a citizen of the United States

• You a legal resident of the county you are registering in

• You are at least 17 1/2 years of age at the time of registration (and 18 years of age to vote)

• Not be serving a sentence for conviction of a felony involving moral turpitude (FYI: you CAN vote in jail as long as you are not currently serving a sentence for a felony or violation of felony probation)

• Have not been found mentally incompetent by a judge 
  
  NOTE: Even if you owe restitution, fines or fees, you CAN vote in GA with a felony IF:

• You are not “on paper” (probation/parole)

• You are serving a felony 1st offender or Conditional Discharge sentence & the status has not been revoked.

• You are not currently incarcerated serving a sentence for a felony.
  
  FYI: Registering to vote while currently serving a felony sentence or on felony probation is punishable by up to 10 years in prison! If you registered by accident, please contact your local county registrar's office to request a registration withdrawal form.
